Thai massage is one of the branches of Thai traditional medicine (TTM). It is an ancient therapeutic art. It involves the receiver to be put into many yoga-like positions during the course of the massage. It Includes rhythmic pressing and stretching of the entire body.
The massage practitioner leans on the recipient's body using hands and usually straight forearms locked at the elbow to apply firm rhythmic pressure.
There is constant body contact between the practitioner and client, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked in order to clear energy blockages and relieve tension.
-What to expect-
The massage is held on the floor using a comfortable futon. There are no oils used in this type of body work. Also... there is no requirement for flexibility or to be a particular body type. Pillows and bolsters are used for support as needed, based on the individual clients needs and comfort. Please bring loose comfortable clothing to work out in.
